Students and Alumni of the University of Alabama’s Engineering and Business schools participated in an Open House event with Smiths Machine on November 15th & 16th, 2010. During one of three sessions, students were able to take a detailed tour of the two facilities of Smiths Machine, as well as meet and converse with the Management Team and other key members of the Smiths Machine staff.
The opportunity to share information as it relates to future employment with Smiths Machine was a topic of discussion. In addition, students were given first-hand information in regard to trends and future growth within this industry, right here in the state of Alabama. We are proud to have had an opportunity to meet these students and alumni, and will continue to stay involved in future University of Alabama activities to support these students.
The purpose of this event was to create awareness about the opportunities the state of Alabama can offer students to keep talent here, as well as Smiths Machine investment in securing future personnel for our growing organization. There were three groups of students, with 21 total in attendance. This included 5 MBA students, 7 Engineering students, and 9 students in Business Administration.
