Each year, in hundreds of cities across the United States, The Salvation Army offers holiday shoppers the opportunity to adopt a child or senior through its Angel Tree program. The Angel Tree lets individuals and partnering corporations personalize a gift for a child or senior citizen in need by adopting an angel and purchasing gifts for that individual.
Smiths Machine employees worked together to provide gifts for 40 recipients. As a result of our Smith’s efforts and the efforts of other Angel Tree donations in West Alabama, 7,400+ people in West Alabama received some type of assistance during the Holiday Season due to this program.
- 1,100 families received assistance
- 2,400 children received toys and clothing
- 350 senior citizens received food baskets
- 400 + people received a hot meal Christmas Day
- 3,200 residents of nursing homes, rehab centers and hospitals received a small gift
