Smith’s Machine Named to 2010 Inc. 5000

Smiths Machine has made the 2010 Inc. magazine 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in America, the Inc. Editor in Chief Jane Berentson announced today.

From among the more than 27 million businesses in the U.S., Inc. magazine just 5000 of companies on the move.  Past honorees have included Microsoft, Timberland, Oracle and Zappos.com.

The Alabama-based manufacturer will be honored at an Awards Ceremony in October in Washington, D.C. It was listed as number 1,318 on this year’s list.

“We are gratified to be in such inspiring company as the current and previously listed Inc. 5000. This recognition serves as just one more motivator, as if one were needed, for our corporate family to reach ever greater heights,” Smiths CFO Tim Smith said.

Smiths Machine started in a garage in the midst of the 1970’s recession and has grown to become one of the most advanced machine shops and manufacturing facilities in the nation.

It employs 85 highly skilled workers and provides a range of state-of-the-art services to customers in the defense, aerospace and automotive sectors.
